Adopt a Puppy

How To Adopt a Puppy?

The first thing that I suggest for all potential puppy owners, is that you take the time to become educated about our beautiful Teddy Bear English Goldendoodles. You need to read the English Goldendoodles page to find out what makes our Goldendoodles so special. Once you decide that you definitely want one of our special litte teddy bear puppies, you need to look at our different photo albums to decide if you like the more curly or the loose wavy coated Goldendoodles. I love photography, that's why we have hundreds of pictures in our different albums for you to look through. We also need to know what size and gender you prefer as well. You need to learn about the different Goldendoodle generations, so that you can choose the type that will best suit your needs. You also need to decide if your are going to send your puppy to our exclusive "Doodle Prep School" or if you will be training your puppy yourself.

If you would like to adopt one of our puppies you can submit your puppy application on line along with the deposit or payment. You can also print off the contract and send it in along with the $200 deposit, realizing that the balance will be due once the puppy is four weeks old. Our puppies are very popular so there can be a 4-6 month wait to get the that perfect puppy. We do occasionally have available puppies featured on our Available Puppy Page.

How Do You Match Up The Puppies?

I like to talk with the families that want to adopt a puppy so that I can know exactly what you want in a puppy. Its nice for us to know why you chose our English Goldendoodles and to learn more about our puppies forever families. If you are already on the waiting list, you will have first option to adopt one of the next available puppies that match your criteria. It's important for us to know if you need this puppy for therapy work, or if you are allergic to dogs, if you prefer a curly coat, wavy or shaggy coat. Would you prefer a larger puppy or a smaller sized puppy? Most of the puppies are similar in size but there may be one that is a bit smaller and if that suites your needs best, please let me know. If you prefer your puppy to be from a specific litter, I really need to know that right away. I will try to work that out for you. All of these questions are in the puppy application form to help with the puppy matching process.

We spend lots of time loving on our puppies, they go home very well socialized. They have been played with by children and handled from the day they were born.

The  first day a  puppy is born we tag the  puppy and weight it and the very next day we begin " Early Neurological Stimulation".

We continue to weight and perform daily stimulation until the puppies leave our care. We have found that our puppies are do extremely well with handling and they are highly intelligent and very social little puppies when they go home. The most common comment that I hear from a visitor is "Wow, I can't belive how still they are when you hold them, but the minute their feet hit the ground they out and playing" .

This is very important for proper neurological development, it has also been proven to increase intelligence.

When the puppies are born we will take an initial litter picture and then we will take three weeks and six week old pictures for you. These pictures will be posted in the puppy photo album. We allow our clients to tell us what their first & second choice puppy is based on the pictures that we post.

All Of Our Puppies are temperament tested at 7 weeks of age so that we can most closely match you with the puppy that you desire.

At 49 Days old we  temperament test each puppy and then we tell you from the two puppies that you chose which one is the best one for you based on the Temperment test. We use the Volhard's Puppy Aptitude Test . The final decision is always based on the best temperament match. Most of the time our Goldendoodles are very similar looking, with very similar temperaments.

We have a licensed Delta Society dog trainer that helps us evaluate our puppies to ensure that we match each puppy with the best family for them. We spend lots of time with our babies and we get to know them in a very personal way; we have found that it is best for us to choose the puppy. We will definitely include you in this process as well . We have done this for most all of our families.

Please watch these series of videos that demonstrate our temperament test process.

Travel Plans:

Very Important, Please read.

We use Delta Airlines Pets First to safely ship our puppies - There is an all Inclusive Fee of $395 to all U.S destinations. We handle everything for you.

I would love to be able to meet every single family that adopts one of our puppies, and you are always welcome to visit, but I also realize that many people can not get away from their busy lives to make the trip to Alabama. We actually ship about 80% of our puppies to their families and I can tell you that we have been using Delta Airlines out of Pensacola, Fl. for many years and they do a wonderful job getting our precious babies to their forever families. The puppies do wonderful, they are very comfortable in their crates, they go in for a nap and within several hours they pop out to greet their new families, usually with tails wagging and puppy kisses.

This all inclusive $395 fee includes; Flight, Crate, Special Vet Flight Certificate, Delivery Fee. All you have to do is to pick-up your puppy at your local Delta Cargo Office.

Please do not try to book your own f lights because we have to do that from our end. I often have clients call Delta or look up flights online and then email the flight and times that they prefer. I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but unfortunately it does not work this way. There are special flights that we have to fly out on, not every flight is equipped to accept puppies. We book the puppies flights on Mondays and the puppies usually always fly out on Fridays. We do not ship weekends. We prefer to work with the full time Delta Agents that work Monday -  Fridays.

I will need to know who needs their puppies shipped and who is planning on picking up.

If you are planning on flying into Pensacola Airport and have your puppy delivered for the $100 fee, you need to schedule your flights by the time your puppy is 6 weeks old for the lowest fares. Please inform the airlines that you will be returning with a puppy. You will need to purchase a soft sided dog carrier, get the ones that is for a dog up to 25lbs, this will give the puppy plenty of room. The weight restrictions for most airlines is 14lbs.

If you will be flying in and carrying your puppy home, please make sure you coordinate that with me as well. We can arrange our own personal Smeraglia Kennel Cab services to the kennel if you would like to drive over to pick up your new puppy.  This service is by reservation only: cost is $250 .

We also schedule confidential pickups for our celebrity clients at  a private location on our property.

Puppy pick-up appointments need to be scheduled as soon as you know your schedule. Please keep in mind we schedule our appointments on the Central Time Zone.

When Is Balance Due?

The balances for these puppies will be due at 4 weeks old, puppies unconfirmed or unpaid for will be offered to next family on the list. If this is a problem just let me know, I am willing to work with you if you let me know.

This is not a good time for me to adopt, what can I do if I would like a puppy at a later time?

If this is not a good time for you to adopt a puppy you are welcome to submit or send in your application for adoption and deposit for an upcoming puppy, as long as you realize that it could take 4-6 months more to get your Goldendoodle.

If you are on a list for a puppy and you find that you cannot take the puppy at this time, you can roll your deposit over to the next litter that has an opening.

I look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions that I did answer, Please feel fee to or call at (251) 960-1311.
