There’s a lot that goes into breeding our Smeraglia puppies. It all begins with our parent dogs combined with years of breeding experience. Each dog that is in our breeding program has been carefully selected based on its genetics, health history, temperament, and confirmation. We are happy to say that we have developed our program with several generations of strong, healthy breeding lines. They have proven to produce extremely healthy, hearty puppies. Our breeding and testing programs ensure that we can produce the most compatible parents to produce puppies with optimal health.
Due to hybrid vigor and our personal research and development, we see fewer incidences of health issues in our Goldendoodles, Schnoodles & Twoodles compared to the problems found in their pure breed parents’ lines.
We give a two-year health warranty on all of our puppies. Therefore, it is in our best interest as well as our clients’ best interest to only breed from lines that are known to be clear of genetic health issues.
“When I was breeding Golden’s years ago, there was a 30% failure rate for hip dysplasia and cancer. That was unbearable for me. Over the last twenty years, we have only had approximately 5% of our puppies develop genetic health issues. We consider these results to be phenomenal.” -Sherri
We do a full veterinarian evaluation on each dog before he/she enters our breeding program, and our dogs are all kept up-to-date on vaccinations. As seen in the video below, I meet regularly with my vets to ensure that we provide the optimum health care for our dogs and puppies.
We have never had a parent dog with Congenital Cardiac Defects
I have never had a potential parent dog from my program go lame, even if they did not pass Hip & Elbow tests.
For ten years we DNA tested our original lines for every issue a dog could get, but we never had one test positive for any serious problem.
All dogs entering our breeding program have been temperament tested for positive traits that we want to see passed on to their offspring.
We cannot test for cancer but have never lost a parent dog to cancer.
Our parent dogs are the heart of everything that we do.
They are loved dearly and are given the best of everything. There are many requirements for a dog to make it into our breeding program which means that these dogs are the best of the best, they have excellent genetics (after all they made our babies), and are conformationally sound. While in our program they are kept in excellent health, fed premium food, groomed regularly, and are kept up to date on vaccinations and deworming protocols.
We have several dog care team members that are dedicated to providing them around-the-clock care and daily enrichment and physical exercise. They all have their own kennel areas as well as outside grassy play yards to romp and play. We invest significant time and lots of love into their lives and when it’s time for them to retire we make it our goal to match them with families that will continue the love and care that we have for them.
They will make loving additions to your family and are ready to love you for many years.
If you are interested in adopting one of our retired parent dogs you will need to submit your online application, once it’s been received and approved you will go on the waiting list to be matched. All parent dogs will go home microchipped, spayed/neutered.
